Our Herd

The Farnell herd was established
in February 2006 with the purchase of the foundation stock at the Perth sales
and since then we have added to the herd as the chance has arisen. The herd was
founded at Little Fithie in Farnell, Angus (hence the prefix).

In 2009 we relocated to Palace farm near Jedburgh. The extra space and grazing allowed us to increase numbers. Our breeding females are made up of home bred heifers and selective purchases.

Breeding

A.I. has been used extensively to access the best quality sires in order to breed heifer replacements and bulls for sale.

At the May Bull sale in Stirling we purchased our first stock bull Drumsleed Alanzo from Gerald and Morag Smith's Drumsleed herd. We are looking forward to seeing Alanzo's calves on the ground in the spring.

A.I. will continue to be used on a proportion of the cows.
